From junction
40 on the M6, take the A66 west towards Keswick. At the Keswick roundabout,
turn left onto the A591 and follow signs for B5289 up the Borrowdale
Valley, over Honister Pass to Buttermere. Alternatively, at the roundabout continue on the A66 for another mile to Portinscale, turn off and follow signs for Stair, Newlands and Buttermere. |
To miss going over Honistor Pass, continue along the A66 towards Cockermouth and approx 9 miles after the Keswick roundabout, turn left following signs for B5289 Lorton and Buttermere Valley. |
